Does your child need strengthening of their impulse control, paying attention, or completing tasks when asked? Lil Know-It Owls is here to help!

Kindergarten readiness may be more important than you think…find out how you can encourage your child’s academic growth and success. Lessons include and foster painting, drawing, play with playdough; and all of the skills your child needs to be ready for learning. Without these readiness skills children have a harder time learning in the future.

Your child’s individualized lessons will focus on language, math, culture, science & nature, art & creativity, and music & movement.

Language: Language development begins with speech and progresses into reading and writing. Your child will be engaged in meaningful experiences that include listening to stories and poems, participating in finger plays, and having chances to talk and be heard.

Math: The world of math comes alive for your child in Lil Know It Owls math sessions. Your child will indirectly learn as they discover similarities, compare differences, discover sequences and explore the world around them through math.

Culture: Your child will develop an awareness of the world around them by discovering geography, history, other countries and how their customs are practiced. Through related materials, your child will learn to appreciate people and places around the world and in their community.

Science & Nature: Your child will be given hands-on real-life activities that are either predetermined conclusion or are open-ended based. Predetermined conclusion based activities teach cause and effect. Open ended based activities encourage a sense of exploration and discovery. Both stimulating cognitive development through your child’s natural curiosity.

Art & Creativity: Art allows for self-expression and fine motor skill development. Your child will explore colors, textures, and patterns, while developing visual and sensory abilities.

Music & Movement: Through music children increase vocabulary and experience its impact on moods. Additionally, your child will learn to hear differences in sounds and discover rhythm.

Tutoring

All subjects…

Whether you want your child to catch up, stay on track, or soar ahead; give him/her an academic edge by providing them with a fun, loving, firm, talented, and dedicated  tutor. When you first enroll your child, Dr. Brooks will complete an assessment test that pinpoints the most suitable starting level based on the skills they’ve mastered to date. Once their starting level has been determined, individualized lessons will be created. As your child advances through the lessons, our tutors will assess whether they’ve learned each concept by observing their speed, accuracy, and most importantly self-confidence. We will revisit any concepts not learned. Student’s progress is measured by appropriate common core and/or early learning standards.

Students earn points throughout each session for every task they complete. These points can be traded in at the end of the session for rewards. Students are enrolled in two hour sessions will earn points for both sessions.

Fine motor coordination can be difficult. As a result, children evade these tasks or become frustrated. Fine motor skills are vital to maximize children’s potential academic success. We use fun fine motor activities to improve their skills. Your child is given opportunities to trace over light tables with wire, clay, and string in addition to writing materials. The written language becomes interesting and children have a positive experience.
